Utilities

Electricity and Gas

Electricity is generated at the Muja Power Station. The supply of power to Dowerin is by a 22KV three- phase overhead line, via Goomalling from the Northam Zone Substation. The present capacity for the town is 440/240 volts AC 50 cycles.

Current capacity is reserved to cover natural load growth. An additional 500KVA capacity can be supplied to the town, but will require the installation of a second voltage regulator. This will provide sufficient demand for 2.5 hectares, if 200KVA/hectare is required (Western Power design Light Industrial areas for approximately 200KVA/hectare).

LPG Gas is supplied in cylinders by a local distributor:

JK Williams & Co Ph: 08 9631 1105.

Water

Water is delivered to the town via a pipeline from Mundaring Weir. While capacity to the Dowerin townsite is adequate, before large quantities of water can be supplied for any new industries within the shire, negotiations would have to take place between interested parties and the Water Corporation. Depending on the quantities required, this may include system investigations and special agreement pricing.

The average amount of the water delivered to the Shire for 1998/99, 2000/01, 2001/02 was: 475,000Kl
