Budget

Council adopted the 2016/2017 Budget at the Special Meeting of Council held on Friday 5 August 2016.

Despite a difficult financial environment, pressures from increasing costs and demand for services, Council managed to deliver a responsible budget that limited the rate increase to an aggregate of 4%.

Individual ratepayers may have experienced rate increases of a greater or lesser amount due to the Valuer General’s revaluations of rural properties.

The focus of the 2016/17 Budget is to ensure the Shire of Dowerin is equipped to progress improvements to governance while maintaining the high level of service this community expects and deserves.

Under the banner of governance, the Shire will engage with the Community to review the Strategic Community Plan in conjunction with developing a Long Term Financial Plan.

These two strategic documents will inform updates to the four year Corporate Plan.

A key infrastructure priority funded from the capital works budget is progressing Phase One of the Short Term Accommodation Project.
