Waste Management
The townsite has deep sewerage and is managed by the Shire.
Mobile garbage bins (Sulo bins) are supplied to each town resident and are collected every Wednesday. The Shire Refuse Site is ten kilometres north east of town on the Old Koorda Road.

RECYCLING
Newspapers are collected by the Dowerin P & C with the assistance of the Shire of Dowerin on the first Sunday of each month. Flattened cardboard and telephone books may also be left for kerbside collection.
A recycling station for plastics, glass and aluminium cans is positioned at the District high school. All proceeds from "recycling" go to the Dowerin P & C
The Apex Club of Dowerin Goomalling periodically collect empty chemical drums as part of the DrumMuster program.
Council has recently introduced a new kerbside Recycling Service. Bins with yellow lids are to used for recyclables only and are emptied on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. A list of acceptable recyclables and collection dates can be found under Avon Waste Recycling Service.
