Dowerin Netball Club
The Dowerin Netball Club has never been stronger with three teams entering the weekend Mortlock Competition and a team travelling to compete in the midweek Wongan Hills Competition in recent years. Competition is exceptionally strong in both competitions and Dowerin seniors have a fantastic record when it comes to competing in finals and have been premiers on numerous occasions.
The Mortlock Competition has five teams (2 x Dowerin, 1 x Goomalling and 2 x Wongan Hills) who compete every Saturday afternoon at alternate venues. The Wongan Hills Competition is played in Wongan each Tuesday with ladies competing in either A or B grade. Both Associations have a great rivalry between the teams and games are played with terrific integrity, sportsmanship and enjoyment.
Fun Net is where the love of netball is developed in our children from the age of 5 – 9. They learn skills through activities and games that are netball orientated and are actively encouraged to have lots of fun!
Junior netball is played within the Mortlock Competition with boys and girls participating together. Games are played prior to the seniors games, with kids learning the finer points of the skills required at training, which is held after school once a week.
Several top netballers to get their start with the Dowerin Netball Club include Bianca Franklin and sister Bree who both went on to play in the National Commonwealth Bank Trophy Competition.
