Wed, 30 Jun 2010Wheatbelt Heritage Rail - Full Steam ahead
On Friday 25th June shire staff were notified of a successful grant application lodged to the Wheatbelt Development Commission in February 2010 as part of the Royalties for Regions Wheatbelt Regional Grants Scheme. The Shire was approved $70,000 to assist with the development of the Wheatbelt Heritage Rail Museum and Restoration Workshop which is due to be established in Minnivale in the former CBH Wheat Bin. This funding will greatly assist with the progression of this exciting new project. The Shire is currently organising for the development of a feasibility study/business plan for this project which is expected to assist with additional funding. Outdoor Gym Equipment
The Dowerin Community Resource Centre and Shire of Dowerin were successful with funding from the Community Resource Centre Network (Telecentre Project Fund) for the installation of some items of outdoor gym equipment in Dowerin. The equipment will be located within the sporting hub of town however it’s specific location is yet to be determined. Watch this space!

Dowerin Playgroup - Heating up!
The Dowerin Playgroup will now be nice a snug during the winter months thanks to funding from the FRRR Small Grants for Small Communities Program. The Playgroup received funding for the purchase and installation of a split system heater and hopes to encourage more children and their parents to attend each Tuesday morning.
