Australia Day 2010

Over 150 members of the Dowerin community gathered at the Dowerin Memorial Swimming Pool on Tuesday 26th January 2010 for the annual Australia Day Breakfast. This record crowd enjoyed a tasty brekkie cooked by our very own Shire Staff and Councillors who did a great job manning the BBQ, while the younger crowd enjoyed all the pool had to offer thanks to Contract Aquatics Services and the equipment that they provided.

Dowerin's 2010 Active Citizenship Award went to Steven Geerdink who was recognised for his ongoing commitment to our community and for tirelessly devoting countless hours to volunteer efforts that significantly benefit others and our town as a whole. Steven's obvious passion for our community and continued selfless attitude to volunteerism is why this year’s judges have recognised him as this year’s winner – from amongst a strong list of excellent nominees.
