The Council of the Shire of Dowerin resolved on 15 February 2022 to adopt the following local laws:
Activities in Thoroughfares and Public Places and Trading Local Law 2022;
- Cemeteries Local Law 2022;
- Fencing Local Law 2022;
- Meeting Procedures Local Law 2022; and
- Repeal Local Law 2022
The purpose and effect of the adopted local laws are as follows:
Activities in Thoroughfares and Public Places and Trading Local Law 2022
Purpose:
To provide for the regulation, management and control of activities in thoroughfares and public places throughout the district.
Effect:
To establish the requirements with which any persons using or in thoroughfares and public property within the district, must comply.
Cemeteries Local Law 2022
Purpose:
To provide for the regulation, management and control of activities in the Dowerin and Minnivale Cemeteries (Reserves 16736 and 14985) located in the district.
Effect:
To establish the requirements with which any persons using the Dowerin and Minnivale Cemeteries, must comply.
Fencing Local Law 2022
Purpose:
To prescribe a sufficient fence and building standards of fences throughout the district.
Effect:
To establish the minimum requirements for fencing within the district.
Meeting Procedures Local Law 2022
Purpose:
To provide rules and guidelines which apply to the conduct of meetings of the Council and its committees and to meetings of electors.
Effect:
To provide for
- better decision-making by the Council and its committees;
- the orderly conduct of meetings;
- a better understanding of the process of conducting meetings; and
- the more efficient and effective use of time at meetings.
Repeal Local Law 2022
Purpose:
To repeal obsolete local laws that no longer have relevance.
Effect:
To ensure that no irrelevant local laws are in force within the Shire of Dowerin.
A copy of the local laws may be inspected at or obtained from the Shire of Dowerin, 13 Cottrell Street Dowerin 6461, between the hours of 8.30am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday or may be viewed on the Shire’s website www.dowerin.wa.gov.au.
The local laws were gazetted in the Government Gazette on 17 March 2022 and will come into effect on 31 March 2022.
