New Employment Opportunity: Coordinator Community and Economic Development

This exciting position is based at the Shire of Dowerin and reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer. It will appeal to dynamic, skilled and experienced applicants looking to make a difference and wanting to live in a thriving and progressive Wheatbelt community. Dowerin is a scenic 2 hour drive from Perth that boasts great facilities, strong community spirit and is home to one of the largest most successful events in the State.

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Facilitate community and economic initiatives, programs, events and services using a strengths based approach, building on community strengths and assets to increase social capital;
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development of community groups and associations;
  • Support the development of partnerships and networks with government agencies and community organisations to enhance and sustain community and economic development activity;
  • Encourage community participation and leadership;
  • Promote the flow of information to and from the community and actively promote the Shire's programs and services.

Previous experience in a community and/or economic development role within the local government sector is highly desirable. The nature of this role requires that it is based in Dowerin.

An attractive remuneration package starting at $70,000 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications. The package includes salary, superannuation, housing allowance or subsidised housing.
