Access to Information
The Freedom of Information Act 1992 requires all government bodies, including the Shire of Dowerin, to publish and make available an Information Statement for the public. This statement outlines what type of information is available, in what formats it is available, and where to access this information. It also stipulates what information is available freely, and what information can be accessed under a Freedom of Information Application.
The objectives of the Freedom of Information Act 1992 ("the Act") are to:
- enable the public to participate in the government of the State: and
- make the persons and bodies that are responsible for State and local government more accountable to the public.
