PUBLIC NOTICE

Appointment of Authorised Officers

 

The Shire of Dowerin advises that the following officers from Contract Ranger Services WA Pty Ltd have been appointed as Authorised Officers and Rangers for the Shire of Dowerin, in accordance with relevant legislation:

  • Keith Squibb
  • Matthew Sharpe
  • Dennis Maher
  • John Scotland

These appointments have been made under delegated authority of the Chief Executive Officer, enabling the officers to carry out compliance, enforcement and regulatory functions on behalf of the Shire.

 

Legislative Authority

The above officers are authorised to exercise powers and functions under, but not limited to, the following legislation:

  • Local Government Act 1995
  • Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1960
  • Dog Act 1976
  • Cat Act 2011
  • Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995
  • Control of Vehicles (Off-road Areas) Act 1978
  • Animal Welfare Act 2002
  • Litter Control Act 1979
  • Bush Fires Act 1995
  • All Shire of Dowerin Local Laws

Scope of Appointment

These appointments include powers relating to:

  • Entry onto land and premises where authorised
  • Compliance inspections and investigations
  • Issuing notices and infringements
  • Animal management and registration
  • Firebreak inspections as Bush Fire Control Officers
  • Representation of the Shire in legal proceedings where applicable
