Extraordinary Election – Call for Nominations

The Shire of Dowerin advises that an Extraordinary Election will be held on Thursday, 25 June 2026 to fill one Councillor vacancy. The term of office will expire on 16 October 2027.

Nomination Period

Nominations open on Tuesday, 5 May 2026 and close at 4.00pm on Tuesday, 12 May 2026.

Nominations must be lodged with the Returning Officer during this period.

Nomination Requirements

Candidates are required to:

• lodge a nomination with the Returning Officer
• pay a nomination deposit of $100
• complete the Local Government Candidate Induction course prior to lodging their nomination
• provide a candidate profile in accordance with prescribed requirements

The Commission’s Nomination Builder is the preferred method for completing nominations and can be accessed via the Western Australian Electoral Commission website.

Lodgement of Nominations

Nominations may be lodged with the Returning Officer by arrangement during the nomination period, or in person between 2.00pm and 4.00pm on Tuesday, 12 May 2026 at the Shire of Dowerin Administration Office.
